Changing Shapes Activity
Farrah Piazza
8th grade math students used Geogebra to create an original shape and then manipulate the shape given specific rules. Students then had to answer questions based upon the transformations.
Go-Karts
Chelsea Mayer
Students pretended to be the manager of a future amusement park. They found the actual dimensions of a lake using scale drawings from a model. They calculated the required dimensions and picked a go-kart track to build around the lake. Students used the Chrombooks to research different types of go-karts and determine which go-kart(s) would be best for their track and amusement park. Students went a step further by calculating the price to buy the go-karts and the price to build the track. They chose how much they would charge per ride, how much they would pay their employees and how much they would spend to keep the go-karts in good condition for their customers in order to calculate their overall profit.
